Lucky Enough

Lucky Enough is a monochromatic mixed-media piece exploring luck, repetition, and the quiet significance we assign to familiar symbols. Across the 24-by-36-inch canvas, twelve horseshoes emerge from a heavily textured white surface, arranged in a simple grid that turns an ordinary object into a repeated visual motif.
Traditionally associated with good fortune and protection, the horseshoe becomes more abstract through repetition and the absence of color. Rather than relying on contrast, the piece uses raised texture, imperfect edges, shadows, and subtle variations in form to reveal each individual shape. The handmade quality of the surface preserves the marks of its creation, allowing imperfections to become part of the work rather than something concealed.
The restrained palette encourages the viewer to notice what might otherwise be overlooked. Lucky Enough reflects on the idea that luck is not always something dramatic or immediately recognizable—it can exist quietly in the people, places, experiences, and ordinary moments already surrounding us.
